Karnagio, Thessaly, Greece holds current Blue Flag certification, meeting the programme's 33 annual criteria for water quality, safety, and environmental management. The beach is managed by VOLOU.
On-site facilities include a beach kiosk and accessible facilities for visitors with disabilities. Entry to Karnagio, Thessaly, Greece is free of charge.
It is a naturally protected beach, 600m long and 30m wide with vegetation of tamarix and reeds, while the wider area is mainly olive groves, orchards and greenhouses. The coast is sandy with light pebbles at the seashore and crystal blue waters. In the southeastern part of the coast there is space for anchoring small boats. Swimming is the main activity of the coast while small boats are moored in the waters. The Karnagio coast is organized and provides umbrellas, deck chairs, showers, toilets for the general public and disabled guests free of charge. Access to the beach is through an asphalt road, with private transport and a parking lot. At Karnagio beach there are restaurants, bars, beach bars, open all day long at the heart of summer; it provides shade as it is a secluded place which makes it a special summer destination for every age and taste. In the surrounding area and within walking distance there are picturesque tavernas, cafes and rooms to let. The area is accessible by regular public transport within walking distance. The beach also features beach volleyball, beach soccer and tennis facilities. Among the sights of the area we can distinguish the experience of traveling to one of the narrowest railway lines in the world, on the famous "Little Train of Pelion", starting from the station in the nearby settlement of Ano Lechonia to the village of Milies, on a magical route of 90 minutes, crossing the verdant slopes of Pelion mountain on the tracks of the footsteps of the Centaurs. In the nearby settlement of Ano Lechonia, the tourist can walk the cobblestone streets and admire the wonderful 18th-century mansions, such as Kontos, Sarafi, Chatzikyriazis and Kassiopoulos mansions, the Kokosli tower and the Olympios Tower. Within walking distance of Karnagio Beach there is also the Anetopoulos Museum of Pottery & Ceramics with artworks from 1790 until today and in the nearby settlement of Kato Lechonia is the Bridge Vrychonas. Very close to Karnagio beach there are several villages of Pelion mountain as well as a lot of beaches of Pagasitikos Bay, accessible by road.
