"Amfanon beach is located on the west coast of the bay of Volos and is 8 km south west from Volos."

The Blue Flag programme is run by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) and is one of the world's most recognised voluntary eco-labels. Amfanon, Thessaly, Greece holds current Blue Flag certification, meeting the programme's 33 annual criteria for water quality, safety, and environmental management. The beach is managed by VOLOU.

The area surrounding the beach is partially residential with plenty of holiday homes. At a short distance around the area – Alykes, Nea Anchialos -  there are picturesque taverns, coffee shops, and hotels- rooms to let for the tourists. The beach is accessible by a paved road and northwest by the country road. Next to Amfanon beach there are a playground, a small wood, the settlement of Agios Stefanos and Amarillidos beach. Among the tourist attractions of the area are the ruins of the ancient city of Amfanon, with archaeological findings northwest from the beach, while at Nea Anchialos, at a distance of 7km,  there are the ruins of Fthiotides Thives.
